After being pushed in front of a train, Takemichi finds himself in 2005, exactly twelve years in the past.
In a flashback to their middle school days, Takemichi meets Naoto and reveals that both he and Hinata have just days left to live.
As soon as they shake hands, Takemichi is sent back to the present, creating a paradox in which Naoto may continue living and working as a detective.
When Naoto and Takemichi clasp hands, Naoto is certain that Takemichi rewinds the clock by 15 years.
Takemichi has decided to use the knowledge he has gained from the future to help Hinata.
Members of the Tokyo Manji Gang, including Kiyomasa, forced former allies of Takemichi to engage in clandestine warfare.

Takemichi learns that Mikey would act aggressively in the future because Draken, his second-in-command, will be killed.
Draken escapes the battle unscathed, but Pah-chin turns himself in to the police after stabbing the Osanai of the Moebius gang.
For this reason, the Tokyo Manji Gang is divided about how best to help Pah-chin.
Though Takemichi was able to end the fight between Mikey and Draken, the Tokyo Manji Gang was assaulted on August 3, 2005, by a gang of Moebius members led by Valhalla member Shoji Hanma.
Takemichi learns that Kiyomasa murdered Draken because Draken humiliated him and forced him to leave the Tokyo Manji Gang, and that Peh-yan joined their scheme after Mikey and Draken permitted Pah-chin to be imprisoned.
This is something that Peh-yan reveals to Takemichi.
The Tokyo Manji Gang wins the fight, Takemichi defeats Kiyomasa, and Draken makes a complete recovery from his injuries.

In this timeline, Takemichi has returned to the current day while Hinata and his companions continue to die.
Time travel allowed Takemichi to discover Tetta Kisaki’s role in the violent transformation of the Tokyo Manji Gang.
When he went back in time, he learned that Kisaki had just joined the gang and, in Pah’s absence, had assumed leadership of his division.
Kazutora Hanemiya, one of the original members of the Tokyo Manji Gang, influenced Keisuke Baji, the first division captain, to join Valhalla.
If Mikey is able to recover Baji, he will force Kisaki out of the gang to keep his vow to Takemichi.
Takemichi has joined Takashi Mitsuya’s squad and is now a full-fledged member of the Tokyo Manji Gang.
Takemichi finds out that Mikey has a grudge towards Kazutora because of the death of Mikey’s older brother, Shinichiro, two years before.
Also, Chifuyu Matsuno tells Takemichi that Baji said he left the gang to investigate Kisaki’s actions.
He also learns that Mikey was Kisaki’s original choice to head Valhalla and that the Tokyo Manji Gang will be absorbed into Valhalla after a battle on October 31, 2005 (also known as “Bloody Halloween”).
Mikey took revenge on Baji’s death by eliminating Kazutora.
